Working in Yellowstone Park
Working in Yellowstone Park is not for everyone. You will be working at a high elevations, in the case of Fishing Bridge, about 7,800 feet. The work is not a "walk in the park", but is in fact, "work". In any of the campground type jobs you'll be working with the public. Most of the folks you'll come in contact with are great. They are excited to be in the park, will look for advice and ideas on how to make their stay memorable and safe. But let's face it, the public is also made up of some "tough to deal with" people, and they can test your patience. The good thing is that you always have a backup in your supervisor, and if need be, the Park Rangers. Our experience has been that the "difficult" folks are extremely few, and far between. Now, if you don't deal well with the public, you should look at some other type of summer adventure.

In our case we enjoy working with the public. We've done it most of our lives, and we really enjoy meeting all kinds of people with different backgrounds and experiences. I'm the kind of guy who can strike up a conversation with almost anyone, and have fun just learning about them. I'll stop and talk with folks my age, older, younger, kids, and a group. They are all interesting to me. Mary is pretty much the same, but when we go on a walk, she likes to walk, I call a walk "a talk". :-)
