Our computer setup

We've never liked working on laptops, and especially so when you consider the cost of a laptop, vs. a desktop. IMO, the desktop is more versatile, easier to expand, and the ability to add the much larger monitors makes the desktop the real winner, at least for us.

Because we have a HughesNet, satellite Internet system from Dustyfoot, we have 24/7 Internet service. I've got a WIFI setup in the rig, run from a D-Link G, router. We're able to be online, wherever we have a clear view to the Southern sky. I've got 75 feet of cable, and if necessary would buy more, but so far there have only been 2 places we were unable to connect with the satellite. It's what works for us.
