OK, here are the steps I take setting up my Dustyfoot,
or HughesNet dish. I've set the system up over 130 times,
in 35 States, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
If you want to follow my steps, you will need one or two
programs from the datastormusers group web site. Don Bradner
has set up, and maintains this really great site for satellite
internet support.
You will need the DSSatTool, and maybe the DSLookAngle tool.
I use both, some folks only use the DSSatTool. If you need
help with your HughsNet system, sign up for the forums,
and participate. If you want to have friends and family
know where you're staying, start putting your location on
the map.
I highly recommend the Align-A-Site. It makes finding the
satellite a snap. I will also make finding a hole in the
trees, or how close you can be to a building or your RV
an easy chore using the target window. Another cool reason
to use the Align-A-Site is that the tripod doesn't need
to be "level and plumb". Get it close when you
set up, and then use the bubbles on the Align-A-Site to
point to where the satellite will be.

I use the Latitude/Longitude for my dish pointing. Each
of the programs I recommend has a zip code lookup table
available for download as well, and this will allow the
user to get a Lat/Long using the zip code information..
I hope these pages will be of some help.
