Power from the GenSet!!! 120 or 240 volts?

Back to Electric Stuff Page
Wires from the GenSet Junction Box

The metal conduit holds the wires coming from the generator. On the left of the picture is split loom that now holds a new run of 10/2 wire. Notice that there are now some bare wires hanging loose. They were the old 12/2 wires that ran the power to lug 2 on the Gen bank of the ATS and fed the Rear AC. Now not needed, I cut it off after the picture was taken. The new 10/2 will now feed lug 2 with 30 amp 120 volts.

The power from the GenSet is 120 volts. Even though it's from two breakers and 2 hot wires it is set up as 120. It could be changed to 240 but would then have the potential to violate highway and fire safety laws according to the tech at Onan. NEXT
