Our Travel Buddies

On the left, Our 2 Shih Tzu's. Courtnie on the left and Carlie on the right. Carlie would have been 9 years old this October 9th (2002). Carlie was taken from us by cancer and passed to a better place on Sept 12, 2002 (Carlies story here). Courtnie will be 8 on December 29th. The kitty (MacKenzie) turned 8 in September.

Carlie was Courtnie's aunt and when we brought the new puppy into the house, she was pissed. Blamed Mary for the new thing intruding in her space. Would not let Mary pet her and would not take treats from her for over a week. Carlie and Courtne were best friends and used to spend a lot of time making sure the property was secure.

MacKenzie really belongs to Carlie. When we brought Carlie into the house we had a cat that had been with us for 14 years. Her name was Bill the Cat (her story here). That cat hated the new puppy. Snarled, hissed, and batted her with her clawless front feet. Well after about 6 weeks we noticed that Bill had started grooming the puppy. They got to be really best friends and would sleep all curled up together. After several months Bill got really sick and we had her put down. Carlie moped around the house and would go from room to room looking for Bill. It was just to sad to watch, so we bought her a kitten for her birthday. Sadly we lost MacKenzie in January of 2002. We are dog and cat people. Our pets add a lot to our lives and we treat them like royalty. Mary has said several times that if she could come back as any kind of animal when she dies it would be one of my dogs.
