I finally sprung for one of these things at the FMCA conference
in Redmond, OR in August of 2004. There are a lot of ways to set
one of these things up, but this is the way I did it.
The pump is wired to the chassis battery and is fused with a 20
amp fuse. It is controlled by the toggle switch on the panel and
I can turn it on/off with the switch. I used 1 1/4" pool drain
hose for the main hose connected to the output connection on the
pump. About 4 or 5" from the pump I put in a PVC T and connected
a length of hose to the connector from the tank drain. The connector
was one of those clear ones with a hose connection for flushing
the tank. I took out the back flush prevention valve and connected
the hose as shown above. There is a shut off valve between the T
and the drain connector. This is left open most of the time and
allows the gray water tank to drain continuously.
The 3" drain hose from the sewer connect to the macerator pump
is about 1 foot long. Much longer and there will be problems with
the hose acting like a big mean snake. Click on the links below
for close-ups of the individual components.
