02_vicksburg_2

A very small section of the Vicksburg National Cemetery. Every one of the larger stones has the name and some additional information about who is buried there. All of the little small square stones have nothing but a number, not even the phrase, "Unknown Soldier". Each side suffered about 10,000 casualties during this one battle. BTW, if you ask about the Civil War in the south you will be informed that it was the "War of Northern Aggression". In more polite language it is called "The recent unpleasantness", and some call it the "Failed War of Independence."
